My Story
As a Whole Body Practitioner; a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) & Credit Provider; an Authorized Scolio-Pilates Practitioner and a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)-CPT; and CES (Corrective Exercise Specialist); my lessons are focused on Core Education and whole body practice. I want to teach every single person that has a spine. Truly, I want to challenge those who think they know how to use their Core, to use 100% of it! This is my profession, and I want to teach you how to use it.
My athletic background has been gymnastics & dance, competitive running & a glimpse of martial arts. I started teaching kids gymnastics when I was only 14. I think that learning your Core should be mandatory in the very first P.E. class that one takes, and I want to be the one to implement this program in schools. Imagine if all kids were given the power to know how to use their body, standing tall & proud. Sports and fitness could take on a whole new meaning, or not, but give them a choice. I want to teach all kids around the world how to be as strong as they can while doing an exercise or, even better, being powerful and strong everywhere every second with every move, "Tripod-ing their Core."
I've had Chronic Neck/T-Spine pain for over 20 years. I couldn't lift my head out of bed one day or turn it. My mistake was seeing a Chiropractor that hurt me by twisting my neck in the opposite direction very quickly, making my neck worse. Strengthening my Core was absolutely necessary, and my neck continues to improve as it keeps getting stronger every time I Tripod my Core. Walking my dog Rusty, sweeping my patio & doing dishes are a few things that I Tripod. Learn how to play with your kids, grandchildren, or pets in the strongest, most supportive position that your body can be in. Tripod Your Core is not only my website name; it's my saying, my slogan; my mantra; & my belief. It means the whole body! I was told recently that I have Scoliosis. My biggest curve or lack of, is in my neck. It's a reverse curve that straightens as it goes backwards causing muscle spasms and pain in my neck and upper back.
I have an A.A. degree in in Criminal Justice & a B.A. in Psychology. Though I became a Certified Massage Therapist & did home visits with my table and chair, doing massages didn't last very long, not knowing how to use my body properly & having an injured neck. How do you use your Core when no one could ever explain how to use it? I can now, and I've based my career on it. I graduated from the Pilates Technique in 2011 from their Teacher-Training Program & became Nationally Certified by the Pilates Method Alliance in 2012. I am a now credit Provider for the PMA. In 2016, I took an intro course to Scolio-Pilates, learning how to work differently with curvatures of the spine. In 2018, I did the Mentorship Program, which certifies me as an Authorized Scolio-Pilates Practitioner helping those with Scoliosis. After 18 years of working in Physical Therapy, I semi-retired to educate the world. I've completed my National Academy of Sports Medicine, CPT (Certified Personal Trainer); and my CES (Corrective Exercise Specialist) which further details each body, individualizing the program for each person, making it personalized and not general. My main lesson is listed as a Webinar, and is to teach Core to everyone. No one is excluded, everyone needs to know Core information as it is Superior to anything else Core related. For the CPT and Corrective Exercise services, please plan for an ongoing program.
I am going to become a credit provider for NASM; because all Personal Trainers need to know this too.
Before training in the Pilates world (as active as I was & being a teacher of fitness), I didn’t know how to use my back muscles properly. I didn't use any of my back muscles, as I just squeezed part of my stomach & butt. I didn't know how to do any of it, like most. I was always a very healthy girl. As a young gymnast, I had a very stalky build. I was thick and muscular, having had 30 additional lbs. I stand almost 5'2" and have lengthened my body and created definition.
At most, people only use 40-50% of their Core & think that's everything. There IS more to it. This may be a reason; the recent school I went to taught the Core as your Pelvic girdle; Glutes; Abdominals and lower back. What about the whole other part of your back? There are 12 Thoracic vertebrae and 7 Cervical; that's everything above your waist. I will teach this school soon, as CPT's need to know this information, this is the biggest lesson you will ever learn and always want to remember. Elongation by breathing intercostally, not diaphragmatically. Strengthening ALL of the muscles in the Core with each & every breath. Including the front (stomach), bottom (butt/hips) & "back", lower back & upper back. The Tripod is what I refer to for proper footwork & will give you better gait, balance & "whole body" stability. If you're isolating a muscle and not using all 3 muscle groups simultaneously, you're not using your Core, just pieces of it. Stop isolating and learn NOW!
Since I started my "Whole Body" practice, I am much lighter as I've stretched my body long while strengthening it strong, and the result is that I sped up my metabolism. I need to eat because I constantly burn calories with each step. I am convinced that no other lesson on the Core will give you everything you need to know about how to use it. So sign up right now! This is a truly amazing piece of information everyone needs to learn. Learning your Core will be the biggest benefit of your life. Let me teach you how you can start working on your own body right now.
